Why You Don’t Need to Be Everywhere to Make an Impact

Do you remember when Clubhouse was all the rage? Maybe in your industry, it was Periscope or Vine. Or perhaps it’s still Facebook, YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Threads, or LinkedIn.

Just listing all these platforms makes my head spin… and that’s not even all of them. If you listen to all the noise in the online business space, you’d think you need to be on every single one to stay relevant.

In fact, when I first started working in the online space, the go-to guidance was post 3-4 times per day (yes, I said PER DAY), every single day of the week. And let me tell you, I actually did that the first year. It was absolute insanity. I was on the content creation hamster wheel, running like a dark chocolate salted caramel was just within reach.

Okay, that’s an exaggeration, but only by a little bit.

For years, the message has been:

Be everywhere, all the time.

Do all the things.

Stay visible at all costs.

And while visibility is essential, being everywhere isn’t the answer.

If you’re trying to establish yourself as a thought leader with a Big Idea that challenges the status quo, being scattered across every platform and burned out beyond belief won’t cut it. Instead, you need to show up strategically in places that amplify your message, cut through the noise, and showcase who you are, what you believe, and why it matters.

Visibility isn’t about being everywhere. It’s about being unforgettable in the right places.

Your Big Idea Deserves a Stage That Amplifies Its Power

The mistake most entrepreneurs make is chasing visibility instead of creating it.

They hop from platform to platform, hoping to be seen, but fail to recognize that not all visibility is created equal. That’s why I talk a lot about Tenacity (the T in BOLT™ Framework). If your message isn’t landing with the right people in a way that resonates, then being everywhere is just noise.

Instead of trying to fit into every space, you need to build your own “stage” - one that aligns with:

  • How you naturally like to show up and share value

  • How your ideal clients best engage with and absorb information

  • The business model that supports your long-term goals

When you own your stage, you don’t just show up—you stand out.

And that’s how you go from being just another person in the industry to actually being seen as a critical voice that creates impact.

3 Keys to Building a Stage That Amplifies Your Impact

1. Know Your Strengths and Lean into Them

I’ve been in the leadership development space for years and have always been a little bit obsessed with assessments. And if you’re anything like me, as an ambitious impact-driven entrepreneur, you’ve probably spent a lot of time trying to fix your weaknesses. While personal growth is valuable, focusing on your strengths is what will set you apart.

So, when it comes to putting your big idea out into the world, you have to do it in a way that brings out your best.

Are you a natural teacher? Write in-depth articles, host webinars, or create a signature framework that simplifies complex ideas.

This is where I thrive, personally, and it’s taken some time for me to be okay with, and dare I say celebrate, the way I like to give information.

Do you thrive in conversations? Prioritize podcast interviews, live discussions, or intimate roundtable events.

The Social Impact Roundtable fills my connection bucket, and allows me to be in conversation with others who care about impact like I do.

Do you inspire action? Focus on speaking engagements, video content, or leading a movement.

Pick the thing that works best for you, and go all in! Trying to be everywhere dilutes your power. Instead, focus on the platforms and formats that let you shine.

2. Know Your Entrepreneurial Type and How You Deliver Your Message

I’ve worked with hundreds of entrepreneurs, and I’ve noticed four distinct styles when it comes to how they connect with their audience.

Which one sounds most like you?

  • Strategist – You connect and serve by teaching, mapping out direction, and providing clarity.

  • Coach – You nurture, challenge, and cultivate people to take bold action.

  • Complementor – You create tools, products, or services that elevate others’ success.

  • Influencer – You use your voice and platform to challenge norms and ignite change.

Your stage should align with how you naturally share your message, engage with your audience, and create impact.

For example, if you’re a Strategist, long-form content (like workshops, articles, or deep-dive training) is ideal. If you’re an Influencer, leveraging video, speaking, or high-impact collaborations will amplify your voice.

I fall into the Strategist/Coach buckets, and love, love, love teaching and really helping women believe in themselves, their ideas, and their businesses, often even before they do. That’s why I prefer blogging and workshops like The Visibility Breakthrough, because it allows me to go deep and support women with big growth leaps!

You don’t need to force yourself into spaces that don’t feel right. Instead, pick your lane and own it.

3. Know Your System for Captivating, Cultivating, and Converting Your Audience

It’s not enough to get attention—you need a system that turns attention into action. We don’t create content for the sake of creating it, and we aren’t visible just to be visible. We need it to DO something for us!

Last week, I talked about the importance of having a strong client attraction system, because I wanted you to understand that even when things feel crazy in the larger ecosystem we have to show up and we have to have a plan for inviting people to work with us. There’s no point to business without clients. And no impact without them.

A strong visibility strategy is about:

  • Captivating – Drawing in the right people through thought-provoking content that aligns with your BOLT idea. We want to spark that AHA! Moment that gets people to say, “I want to know more!”

  • Cultivating – Building relationships that foster trust, credibility, and engagement. Values-driven content and clarity on what you stand for is where. It’s. at!

  • Converting – Creating clear pathways for people to work with you, book you, or invest in your idea.

If you don’t have a clear system that helps people move from discovering your work to taking meaningful action, your visibility efforts will feel scattered and exhausting. It’s time to get off the hamster wheel!

Your Big Idea deserves a strategy that works for you, not the other way around.

Create the Stage Where Your Big Idea Thrives

At the end of the day, visibility is about more than just getting seen—it’s about getting remembered.

The entrepreneurs and thought leaders who create real, lasting impact aren’t chasing every new platform. They’re building the right ones.

Ask yourself:
Where does my message cut through the noise?

Where do my ideal clients naturally engage and absorb information?

Where do I show up powerfully and consistently?

You don’t need to be everywhere; you need to own your stage and amplify your message with intention.

When you do that, you don’t just show up—you lead.
